The first German Shepherd Dog show after the 2nd.
World War at which the title of “Sieger” and “Siegerin” were awarded was
in 1955.
“Muschka” was sired by one of the best dogs in Germany
at the time the V.A. dog “Arno
von der Pfaffenau” . Her
Dam was a very well-bred bitch “Nandl von der Hohen Fichte”, sired by
a V.A animal “Cralo von
Haunstetten”. But
“Nandl” was not a good show specimen and received only a low rating of
“G” at Shows. She was however, an excellent producer and in addition
to “Muschka” she also produced the 1956 Siegerin “Lore v. Tempelblick”
“Muscha” had one litter sired by the1995 Sire “Alf .
Nordfelsen”. The “V:
litter “von Tempelblick” did
not produce animals of exceptional quality.
1956
Siegerin “Lore v. Tempelblick” - 855181
“Lore” was
sired by “Berusko v. Tempelblick”,
a son of an excellent dog, who was also an important sire, “Claus von Haus
Werle”. “Lore’s Dam was the
same as “Muschka’s” – “Nandl v.d.Hohen Ficht
“Lore” had only
one litter in Germany. She was mated to the 1956 “Sieger” “Hardt v.
Stuveschacht” and produced the “U” litter von Tempelblick.
Once again it was a disappointing litter with no animals of outstanding
show qual
Immediately after
the Sieger Show “Lore” was sold to Dr. Otto Schales of
the United States, but she produced no litters at all
“Wilma’s” breeding was the very best in Germany at the time. Her Sire was a dog that proved one of the most important dogs in the history of the modern Shepherd – the V.A. dog, “Axel v.d. Deininghauserheide”. “Axel” was sired by the V.A. dog “Immo v. Hasenfang” Apart from being a top quality specimen, and a dominant Sire, “Axel” was also a dog with an exceptionally good temperament
“Wilma’s” Dam
– “Hexe von Richterbach”was of
equally good breeding as he Sire. “Hexe”
was a litter sister to the important pillar of the breed “Hein von Richterbach”.
Here Sire was “BillvomOberviehland” and her Dam “Rosel von Osnabruckerland”,
lister sister to “Rolf” a dog
as important as “Axel” as a
pillar of the bre
One would have
expected an animal with this excellent breeding background to
have produced well, but this sadly,
was not the case. .She produced no show specimens of any note
“Mascha” was
sired by the “Rolf” son ‘Brando v. Tappenort”, a
top V.A. dog, and her Dam was also a top show specimen, the V.A. bitch
“Werra zu den Sieben Faulen”. “Werra”
was sired by a well-bred dog “Etu
vom Zierenberg”, a son of an exccptionally good producer of show winning
animals “Arry von der
Gassenquelle”. “Etu”,
however, was not a particularly good show specimen, placed Sg 59 at the 1951
Sieger
Unfortunately
“Mascha” is also a bitch that
is never produced any animals of
1959
“Siegerin”
“Assja z. Geigenklause” 929832
“Assja” was
sired by the very dominant Sire “Caesar v.d. Malmannshiede”, a son of
“Hein v. Richterbach
I had the pleasure
of seeing “|Caesar” at the
home of his owner and breeder Ernst Grurmann and was struck
with the tremendous vitality
of this dog that had been placed V.A. on
no less than five occasions.
“Caesar”
produced a number of excellent show specimen
“Assja’s” Dam
"Blanka von Sandbachdam" was bred by Kaethe Crossman, a
lady I also had the pleasure of meeting. Her
“Sandbachdam” kennels were very well known, and breeding from the same bitch
line for several generations she subsequently produced many fine show specimens. “Assja” herself, however did not produce any show
specimens of any note.
1960
“Siegerin” Inka
Grubenstolz 969715
“Inka” was
sired by another excellent “Rolf” son, the V.A. dog, “Donar v.d.
Firsskuppe”. Her Dam was a
good show specimen, but not a V.A. bitch
– Trasa von Colonia Agrippina”. “Trasa”
was sired by “Fred zu den Sieben Faulen” who was a very well-bred dog, but
not a particularly notable show win
“Inka” produced
a number of good specimens, but none of them reached great heights in the show
ring.
What is interesting
– and very revealing – is that
these animals were retained for breeding purposes by
owners who were aware of their genetic value. After a few generations, when mated to Sires whose pedigrees
proved to be suitable for theirs, they did produce top quality ani
1961
“Siegerin”
“Assie v. Hexenkolk” (920614)
“Assie” was
sired by a dog that was not a particularly good show specimen – “Fero von
der Emsschleuse” – but he was the son of the important V.A. dog “Fels
vom Vogtlandshof”, who was also very well bred.
“Fero’s” Dam,
“Cora vom Walburgitor” was also
a top V.A show
bit
“Assie”s” Dam
was the “Caesar v.d. Malmannsheide” litter sister “Cora
Mated to the
excellent show specimen “Gero von Haus Elkemann” “Assie” did produce the very successful “K” litter in
which there were a number of fine bitches and an excellent male “Kay von
Hexenkolk”. “Kay”, who was
highly placed V12 at the 1966 Sieger Show was a very popular Stud dog and
produced many excellent animal
Although the
bitches in this “K” litter were not exceptionally successful show specimens
themselves, they had an important influence on the breed through there many fine
sons and daughter
It is obvious from
our study it is unfair to assess the importance of a bitch by examining her
direct offspring. More often
than not the value of a top
quality, well-bred bitch lies in the ability of her descendants to demonstrate
the importance of their genetic heritage by
producing excellent specimens
1962
“Siegerin”
“Rike v. Colonia Agrippina” 979540
The sire of “Rike”,
“Unfried v. Colonia Agrippina” was
a dog that had not make his mark in the Show ring.
He was however, the son of an
important V.A. dog, “Atlas v.
Dinas Eck
“Rike’s” Dam, “Forma v. Colonia Agrippina”, on the other hand, was an excellent show specimen, who was very highly placed at the Sieger Shows in 1959,1960 and 1961. Her Sire was the excellent producer, and excellent show specimen “Alf v. Walddorf-Emst”, a dog that I had the privilege of seeing at the home of his proud owner, Walter Lueg.
“Alf’s”
pedigree was exemplary as he was a “Rolf” son out of an “Axel v.d.
Deininghauserheide daughter.
This was a
combination of
breeding responsible for a great number of excellent animals
In spite of her
excellent pedigree “Rike” does not appear to have produced any animals of
note, whose names appear in the pedigrees of top show specimens.
1963
“Siegerin”
“Maja v. Stolper Land” (991118)
“Maja” was
sired by the important “Alf v. Walddorf-Emst” son, “Marko von Boxhochburg”
who was very highly placed at the 1959, 1960 and 1961 Sieger Shows.
“Maja’s” Dam was the excellent
“V” . bitch and “Rolf”
daughter “Werra v. Osnabrueckerland”.
Mated to the S.G.
rated dog “Lex v. Colonia Agrippina”she produced the bitch “Velia”.
“Velia” does not appear to have any sons or daughters that have had
an important influence on the breed.
1964
“Siegerin” “Blanka
v. Kisskamp” (1004734)
The Sire of
“Blanka” was the 1962 Sieger “Mutz aus der Kuckstrasse”, the 1958 Sieger
Condor v. Hohenstamm” son. The
Dam of “Blanka” was a relatively unknown bitch, “Iris v. Walienhof”.
Although
“Blanka” did not produce any top winners herself, mated to the very well-bred “Quai v.d. Schinklergrenze” and
subsequently the top V dog “Sam
v.d. Schinklergrenze”, she did
produce the important “X” and “Z”
litter “Kattenstroth that included many excellent animals whose names
frequently appear in the pedigrees of top
winners
1965
“Siegerin” “Landa
v.d. Wienerau” (1029754)
Landa was sired by
the very important V.A. winner “Jalk v. Fohlenbrunnen”, V.A.
in 1961,62 and Reserve Sieger in 1963, an exceptionally fine specimen,
and dominant Sire. He was the son of another important dog “Vello zu den
Sieben Faulen”, who was also an excellent producer, but criticized for being
oversized.
Landa’s Dam
“Dixie v.d. Wienerau” was not a particularly good show specimen. She was
only a very low placed SG 56 at the Sieger Show in 1961.
Neverthless her breeding was excellent.
She was sired by the V.A. dog “Arno v. Haus Schwingel” our of a bitch
sired by the 1955 Sieger v. Nordfelsen. She also proved to be an exceptionally
good brood bitch and produced some excellent
progeny in addition to Landa. “Landa” does not appear to have produced any
registered progeny.
1966
‘Siegerin” “Cita vom
Gruhental” (105051
Cita was sired by a
relatively unknown and unshown dog “Cello
Forsthausstrasse”, who was sired by a good show specimen, the “Alf v.
Nordfelsen” son, “Donar v. Elfenhain”
Cita’s Dam
“Mira v.d. Balinger Bergen” was also a bitch that had never been
shown. Her Sire “Falk v.
Bubenlachring” was also not an animal that had been highly placed at Sieger
Sho
Not surprisingly,
Cita did not produce any progeny of note
1967
“Siegerin” “Betty von Glockenland 1100442
Betty was sired by
the “Jalk v. Fohlenbrunne” son, “Black von Lambertzeck”, who was a good
specimen, but not a top show
winner.
Batty’s Dam
“Sonia v. Glockenland” was not a successful show bitch receiving only
SG rating at the 1960 and 1961 Sieger shows.
However her Sire “Alf v. Heilengensteg” was a top V. animal, and
sired by the V.A. son of “Rolf”, “Brando v. Tappenort”. It is interesting to note that
“Sonia’s” Dam “Frei v. Haus Werkstadt” was an “Axel”
daughter. So here again we
have an example of the very successful formula, an “Axel” daughter being bred to
a “Rolf” son
“Betty von
Glockenland”, in spite of her good breeding, did not produce any progeny of
note.
1968
“Siegerin” “Romy von Driland” (1104338)
Romy was sired by
the highly rated V dog “Kay v.
Hexelkolk”, whose Dam was the 1961 Siegerin “Assie v. Hexenkolk.
Kay was sired by important the
V dog
“Gero v. Hexenkolk” who we discussed in dealing with the 1961
Siegerin “Assie”
Romi’s Dam was an
unshown bitch “Cilli vom Helfriedsheim” of good breeding.
Her Sire “Iro von der Haller Farm” – V 10
at the 1961 Show. Her Dam
was, “Mori aus der Kuckstrasse”, litters sister of the 1962
Sieger “Mutz
“Romi” did not
produce any animals of no
Connie was sired by the 1968 “Sieger”
“Dido v.d. Werther Konigsallee”, a son of the 1964 Sieger “Zibu v.
Haus Schuetting”. Connie’s
Dam - “Farah v.d. Starrenberg”
was equally well bred. Highly
placed at the 1965 Sieger Show
where she was V 7, she was sired by
“Jalk v.d. Fohlenbrunnen” and her Dam was the 1962 Reserve Siegerin “Welle v.d. Starrenberg”.
This was a breeding I was personally well acquainted with because I once
owned a bitch of the identical breeding.
“Connie’s” pedigree could not have been improved
upon, and it is not surprising that she proved an exceptionally good brood
bitch. Mated to the important
pillar of the breed “Quanto v.d. Wienerau” she produced a number of
excellent animals, including the outstanding V.A. male “Gundo v.d.
Klosterbogen.
Mated to the important “Quanto v.d. Wienerau” son
“Cliff v. Haus Beck”, she produced the outstanding
N litter, that included the
V.A. bitch, “Nanni v.
Klosterbogen”,
Here certainly an example of a top show bitch producing as
well as had been expected, based on her excellent pedigree.
1970 Siegerin
“Diane v.d. Firmskuppe”(1133839
Diane was sired by the 1963 Sieger “Ajax v. Haus Dexel”,
who produced a great many fine animals.
Diane’s Dam, “Ulli
v.d. Firnskuppe” was a very well-bred animals, sired the important V.
dog “Klodo v.d. Eremitenklause.
Although “Ulli” was not a particularly good show bitch, she was an
excellent brood bitch. In addition
to “Diane” she produced a
number of other fine specimens.
Although Diane does not appear to have produced much in the
way of show animals, her name often appears in the name of animals that achieved
distinction in the working field.
1971 Siegerin .”Kathja
v.d. Rheinliese” (1162240)
Kathja was sired the Reserve Sieger in 1969, the very well
angulated “Nick v. Dreimarkenstein”.
“Nick” was a son of an
animal referred to earlier, “Lido v.d. Wienerau”, an important show sinner
and excellent sire and litter brother to the Siegerin “Landa v.d. Wienerau”.
Kathja’s Dam was “Hexe v.d. Rheinliese” who was sired
by the V.A. dog – V.A. 5 in 1964 “Droll v.d. Grafenkopf”, a son of
“Klodo v.d. Eremitenklause”, referred to earlier.
Kathja unfortunately does not appear to have any registered
progeny.
Katinka was sired by “Olden v. Asterplatz”,
a son of the very important Sire “Nico v. Haus Beck”.
Nico was a son of the 1961 Sieger “Veus v.d. Starrenberg”.
Nico’s importance lies in the fact that in addition to being an
excellent show specimen, and a dominant sire, he was also known to have produced
animals with very sound, working temperaments.
“Olden” was a good V. dog, V 17 at the 1970 show, and
an excellent sire of working stock. One
of the animals sired by him “Eck von Charlottenhof” was the working dog
champion in 1977.
Katinka’s Dam was “Exa v.d. Croonstad”, a daughter of
“Klodo v.d. Eremitenklause”
It is certainly to be regretted that this fine bitch with
excellent working bloodlines as well as good show bloodlines had no progeny
registered.
Erka was sired by the dog that has perhaps had
more influence on the development of the
modern German Shepherd than any other dog,
“Canto v.d. Wienerau”. “Canto”
was an important pillar of the breed. Although he died young at the age of only
4, his influence was so widespread his name appears in the pedigrees of almost
every show winner today.
Although his own temperament was not as strong as one would
have wished and neither was that of his Sire, “Hein v. Konigsbruch”, he
nevertheless produced many animals with strong
temperaments in addition to excellent construction.
Erka’s Dam was Druxi v. Silberbrand a well-bred but
unshown bitch. “Druxi’s” Sire
was “Siggo v. Wieerau”, a son of Jalk v. Fohlenbrunnen but not a top-placed shown animal.
Erka unfortunately, did not produce any animals who were particularly successful show specimens. Mated to the V.A. dog “Kai v. Silberbrand”, a son of the 1972 Sieger “Marko v. Cellerland”, she did produce Caesar and Condor v. Lohnerring, They were popular stud dogs, probably because of their excellent breeding. They did produce some very good bitches, for example, the V.A. bitch “Biene v. Haus Beck and others whose names are often found in the pedigrees of show winners today.
From 1974 – 1977 the awarding of the “Sieger” and
“Siegerin” titles was temporarily discontinued.
A group of the top
dogs and bitches were awarded
V.A. (Excellent Select)
classifications.
From 1978
until the present time “Sieger” and “Siegerin” titles were
awarded once again.
1978
Siegerin “Ute v. Trienzbachtal
1370881
Ute was sired by the Reserve Sieger in 1972 and 1973 “Hero v. Lauerhof”, who was a son of an excellent dog “Jupp v.d. Murrenhutte”. Jupp was sired by an important top V. animal “Klodo v. Eremeitenklause”.The only conclusion one can come to however, is that luck was a very strong elelment
Ute’s
dam “Otte v. Trienzbachtal” was a good V. specimen, but not a top show dog
like |Ute. She was however an
exceptionall fine producer.
In addition
to “Ute” she also produced the Siegerin
Anusch v. Trienzbachtal- Siegerin in 1981 and
the “Tannie v. Triennbachtal” Siegerin in 1983 and a great many other
V. animals, truly a remarkable breeding
performance
The
Trienzbachtal kennels of Leopold Bucher in Mossbach became famous for producing
remarkably dominant bitches, many of which stemmed from “Otti”.
It
is interesting to examine the pedigree of this remarkably good producing bitch
to try and establish the reason for her ability to transmit
such excellent qualities.
Neither
her Sire “Ali von Katzenbuckel” or her Dam “Freya vom Gretengrund” were
good show specimens. Only
“Ali’s” Sire, “Quanto v.d. Wienerau” was a
top V.A. dog.
The
only conclusion one can come to however, is that luck was a very strong element!
Ute
herself produced some very fine animals. Mated
to the Reserve Sieger “Grando v. Patersweg” – V.A. 2 in 1979 and again in
1980 – a son of the 1993 Sieger “Dick v. Adeloga”, “Ute” produced the
“E” litter Trienzbachtal that contained the important V.A. dog “Elch v.
Trienzbachtal”
Mated
to a dog that was not a particularly good show specimen, “Rolf v. Trienzbachtal
who
happened to be a full brother –
from a later litter – of her Dam “Otte” she produced
the excellent “I -
Trienzbachtal”. litter. This
mother to uncle breeding produced four
bitches that were also excellent producers and produced animals remarkably
similar in type
The
bitch “Ilme v. Trienzbachtal”,
when mated to the 1978 Sieger
“Canto v. Arminius” son “Kanto v. Konigstralle”, produced “Anisch v.
Trienzbachtal” placed
V 2 at the 1985 German Sieger Show and in the same year was Italian
Siegerin.
I can recall visiting Leopold Bucher’s kennels in
Mossbach and being amazed at the remarkable
uniformity of his stock. I
was also struck with the excellent temperaments of the animals, especially with
the Siegerin “Ute”. She
was an animal that was completely
calm and imperturbable in normal
circumstances. I had personal evidence of this!
While speaking to Leopold
Bucher he suddenly picked “Ute” up
and threw her into my
arms to demonstrate how placid the animal was.
However, a few minutes later when she was suddenly
given the command to “guard”, “Ute” was transformed into a
lioness!
Not surprisingly, “Ute” was Siegerin again in 1999.
1980
Siegerin “Dixi vom Natoplatz” 1389852
“Dixi” was sired by a dog that was never among the
top show winners, “Rondo vom Ecknachtal”.
“Rondo” was V 57 at the 1975 Sieger Show. But his sire,
“Axel v. Grundel” was a far
better show specimen, V 10 at the 1972 Sieger Show.
But far more important was the fact that he was sired by
“Mutz von Peltzierfarm”a top show specimen, V.A. 2
and Reserve Sieger in 1970 and a very important alternative bloodline.
“Dixi’s”
Dam was “Birka v.d. Holledau” sired by “Olden v. Asterplatz”.
“Olden” was a good V, dog – V 17 in 1970 – and the son of the
important “Nico v. Haus Beck”, reserve Sieger in 1967.
“Olden”
was a particularly well-bred dog and his Dam”Gitta vom Asterplatz” was sired
by the top show specimen and excellent producer “Jalk v. Fohlenbrunnen”.
“Olden”
was the Sire of the 1972 Siegerin “Katinka v.d. Netten Ecke”.
He was also an excellent sired of working stock.
He was the Sire of the 1977 Working Trials winner “Eck v. Charlottenhof”.
“Dixi”
proved to be a very good producer of excellent
stock and in virtually every one of the many litters she whelped there
were excellent animals. Many
of these animals have themselves proved to be outstanding producers. As a result
her name will be found in the pedigrees of any top animals today.
For
example, when mated to the Reserve Sieger “Tell v.d. Grossen Sand” – V.A.
2 in 1985 – she produced the bitch “Mischa vom Natoplatz”. Even though “Mischa” was not a great show animals herself
– V 51 in 1985 – when mated to the excellent Dutch bred “Uran” son
“Natz. van Huize Hintdonk” – she produced the
bitch “Pam v.d. Noriswand” bred by the Judge Ernst Ruckert.
“Pam
v. Noriswand” when mated to “Cim von Ecknachtal” produced a really top
show specimen and excellent Sire – Karly v.d. Noriswand”, who
was V.A. 4 at the American Sieger Show in
1999.
The
purpose of this long exercise is to draw attention to the fact that the value of
a top show winning bitch does not necessarily lie in the show quality of her
immediate offspring, but rather the genetic qualities she is able to hand
down through them.
The 1981 Siegerin was again a Trienzbachtal bitch – Anusch v. Trienzbachtal.
She
was sired by Arras v.d. Gruber- Holle, a very good V dog, V 3 at the 1977 Sieger
Show.”Arras” was sired by an excellent “Mutz” son, “Jory v.d. Grone”
V 16 in 1975, while still a young dog, and winner of the Jugendklasse the
previous year, under the very knowledgeable Judge Wicht.
The
Dam of “Anusch”, as we have
already discussed, was “Ottie v. Trienzbachtal”.
In
examining the progeny of “Anusch” once again we have evidence of the
remarkable prepotency of the “Trienzabachtal” bitch line. Mated to the exceptionally good producer, the V.A. dog
“Lasso di val Sole” – one of Quanto’s best sons – “Anusch”
produced “Helge v. Trienzbachtal”
who was Reserve Siegerin in 1983 and again in 1984.
Leased
to Ernst Ruckert,of the Noriswand Kennels, “Helge” was mated to the double
Sieger “Fanto v Hirschel”. The resultant
litter produced the excellent producing bitch “Wenke v. Noriswand”
Here
again we have an example of a bitch showing her genetic value, not necessarily
through her children, but through her grand-children and great-grandchildren
1982 Siegerin “Perle
vom Wildsteigerland”1478660
In “Perle” we have an excellent example of one member
of a litter being a remarkably good producer and – for some unaccountable
reason – another litter sister being unable to transmit her own excellent
genetic qualities.
Perle
was Sired by an excellent show dog, “Nick v.d. Wienerau”, who was an also a
very good producer of quality show animals.
“Nick” was sired by “Kuno v. Weidtweg”, and exclclent son of
the top V.dog “Jonny v.d. Rheinhalle” – one of the most important
sources of “Mutz” blood.
Certainly
of equal importance was the breeding of “Nick’s” bitch line.
His Dam was the “Canto v.d. Wienerau” daughter “Flora v.
Konigsbruch”. “Flora”
is regarded as being a
bitch of great importance in
the development of the modern German Shepherd
In addition to “Nick”
and a number of other animals in the “N” litter
von Wienerau”, she also
produced many other exceptionally dominant animals such as “Reza v. Haus
Beck”, “Dax v.d. Wienerau” and many others.
Also
of importance is the fact that “Flora” was descended herself from an
exceptionally good producing bitch “Wilma v.d. Kisselschlucht”.
“Wilma” when mated to “Lasso di Val Sole” produced the “X”
litter Armnius, probably one of the most important litters in the history
of the modern German Shepherd.
Having
digressed enough from Perle’s breeding, let us now return to her breeding on
her Dam’s side. Perle’s
Dam “Fina v.d. Badsee”
was a top quality V.A. bitch, who was VA
5 at the 1979 Sieger Show.
Her
breeding reflected the “Canto” influence through her Sire “Veit v. Haus
Koder” and the Quanto v.d. Wienerau” influence though her Dam “Wala von
der Sturmwolke”
Perle
herself was an excellent show specimen and full deserved
being awarded the title of Siegerin in 1982.
However, she proved somewhat of a disappointment as a brood bitch,
especially when compared to the record of her litter sister
“Palme v. Wildsteigerland”.
“Palme”
was a reasonably good show specimen, but she never distinguished herself at the
important Shows. There was
certainly no comparison in this regard with her outstanding sister “Perle”.
But as a producer of quality stock “Palme’s” record was superb. Her
litter sister “Perle” was not in the same class.
“Palme
v. Wildsteigerland” was the Dam
of not one Sieger – but two. Furthermore
the two Siegers she produced “Uran v. Wildsteigerland” when mated to
“Irk v. Arminius” and “Quando v. Arminius” when mated to the Lasso son
“Xavier v. Arminius”, have made a greater influence on the development of
the modern German Shepherd Dog than probably any other two dogs in the history
of the breed!
1983
Siegerin “Tannie v. Trienzbachtal”1482662
The 1983 Siegerin was once again a Trienzbachtal bitch – Tannie v. Trienzbachtal
Tannie
was sired by “Irk v. d Wienerau”.
Irk
was V.A 13 in 1978, and his breeding, through his sire “Pele Aegidiendamm”
goes back to “Nico v. Haus Beck” and
“Mutz v. Peltzierfarm” who we have discussed before and also the 1993
Sieger “Ajax v. Haus Dexel”.
Irk’s
Dam, was “Diane v.d. Wienerau”
sired by “Canto v.d. Wienerau” out
of a Murrenhutte bitch “Jule v. Murrenhutte”.
The
Dam of the Siegerin “Tannie” was the amazing producing bitch “Otti v.
Trienzbachtal” who was the Dam of the
double Siegerin “Ute” that we discussed at some length and also the 1981
Siegerin “Anusch v. Trienzbachtal”. For
a bitch to have produced no less than three Siegerins is a remarkable
achievement.
Not
surprisingly “Tannie” also
produced an exceptionally good producer in “Gundo v. Trienzbachtal” who
was V.A. 7 in 1985.
“Gundo”
produced a large number of excellent animals, including “Jack v. Trienzbachtal”
who was V.A. on a number of occasions and Reserve Sieger in 1990.
“Gundo”
was also the Sire of the important “Cash
v. Wildsteigerland”, Reserve Sieger in 1996.
Through
her numerous progeny the name of
“Tannie v. Trienzbachtal” appears in the pedigrees of many top winners
today.
1984
Siegerin “Tina v.d. Grossen Sand”1523178
“Tina”
was Sired by the excellent producing son of the 1978 Sieger “Canto v. Arminius”,
“Sony v.d. Badener Land”. “Sony”
sired many top animals including
“Tina’s” litter brother “Tell v.d. Grossen Sand”,
Reserve Sieger to “Uran” in 1984.
“Tell” was, of course, the Sire of the Double Sieger “Fanto v.
Hirschel”.
Another
one of “Sony’s” top quality
sons was “Orno v. Murrtal”, V.A
4 in 1987.
Sony’s
breeding reflected the influence of three great dogs “Canto v.d. Wienerau”,
who was the Sire of “Canto v. Arminius”;
“Quanto v.d. Wienerau” who was the Sire of “Frigga von Eclesia
Nova” – the Dam of “Canto
v. Arminius”; and “Mutz v. Peltzierfarm” through “Sony’s” Dam
“Luna vom Eidechsbrunnen”
“Tina’s”
Dam was “Jenny v.d. Grossen
Sand”, a daughter of the “Quanto son "Lasso di Val Sole".

this exceptionally good genetic background
and her excellent physical qualities
one
would have expected “Tina” to be an outstanding producing bitch,
particularly in view of the fact that she was mated to the very best producing
male at the time “Uran”.
The
litter she produced to the very dominant Sire “Uran”, while in the
ownhership of the well-known Judge Karl-Heinz Zygadto contained two animals
“Canto” and “Connie” aus dem Haus Zygadto”, both of whom were very
disappointing producers.
It
is difficult to find a reason why the superb bitch “Tina” was unable to
transmit her excellent qualities. Once
again one can only put it down to bad luck!
It
should also be noted that “Tina’s” top quality
litter brother “Tell” was also a disappointing Sire.
The only dog he produced of top show quality was the double Sieger
“Fanto v. Hirschel”, one of the best moving animals in the history of the
breed.
Here
again, although “Fanto” did produce some very good bitches, he didn’t
produce the males one would have expected from an animal of this quality.
1985
Siegerin “Tina von Grossen
Sand” once again.
1986
Siegerin “Pischa v. Bad-Boll”1530426
The
Sire of “Pischa” was “Irk v. Arminius”, who was also the Sire of “Uran”.
“Irk”
was a very good V dog, V 12 in
1990, who was also an excellent Sire. He
was the son of “Pirol v. Arminius” whose breeding reflected the influence of
“Quanto v.d. Wienerau”through “Pirol’s”Sire “Cliff v. Haus
Beck”.
It
is interesting to note that “Pirol’s” Dam was “Olga v. Trienzbachtal”,
litter sister to “Ottie”, the bitch we discussed at length as being the Dam
of three Siegerins.
“Pischa’s”
Dam was “Dunja vom Weilachtal”, a bitch that was only able to receive a very
low rating of “G” in the Junghundklasse at the 1975 Sieger Show.
In
spite of a background that was not nearly as impressive as some of the past
Siegerins we have discussed,
“Pischa” proved a remarkably good producing bitch.
Mated
to Odin v. Tannenmeise she produced the top quality bitch “Chipsi v.d Bad
Boll”who also proved to be an excellent producing bitch.
“Pischa” produced a large number of other excellent animals.
When mated to “Quando” she produced “Natan v. Bad Boll” a top V
dog at the 1987 Sieger Show, and a very dominant Sire.
Mated to the Sieger “Quando v. Arminius” again she produced “Wick
v. Bad Boll” a top V dog at the 1991 Sieger Show, and once again an
outstanding producer of quality stock.
Mated
to “Lasso v. Wiedenbrucker Land”, Pischa produced the excellent bitch
“Xara v. Bad-Boll”, Youth Siegerin in 1986.
“Pischa”
can certainly be regarded as a truly excellent producing bitch.
1987
Siegerin “Senta von Basilisk” SHSB 349009
“Senta”, the first Swiss-bred Siegerin was sired by
the double Sieger –1986 and 1987 – “Quando v. Arminius”, whose pedigree
we have discussed. “Quando”
was Sired by “Xaver v. Arminius” a son of “Lasso di Val Sole”.
As mentioned previously, the “X” litter
“Arminius” was a very important one as it contained a number of exceptional
dominant animals.
“Quando’s” Dam was “Palme v. Wildsteigerland”
Senta’s pedigree was equally impressive as she came from a long line of V.A. bitches.
Her Dam “Gora v. Basilisk” – a daughter of the 1983
Sieger Dingo von Haus Gero – was V.A. 8 in 1985.
“Gora’s” Dam was “Ola
v. Arminius” was Youth Siegerin in 1980 and V.A. 3 in 1982.
Apart from being a first class show bitch, “Ola” was
also an excellent producer. In
addition to the V.A bitch “Gora”, when mated to “Uran” she produced
“Ulme v. Basilisk” who was V1 at the 1986 Sieger Show and his very
important litter brother “Ulf v. Basilisk”V2 at the 1989 Sieger Show.
“Ulf” was an especially dominant male and produced a number of top V
animals.
“Ola”, in addition to being an excellent show bitch and good producer, was an animal with a very strong temperament, a feature she handed down to many of her progeny.
This is something
of which I have personal knowledge
as I was fortunate enough to own an excellent “Ola” son, “Alex v.
Basilisk” sired by the 1978
Sieger “Eiko v. Kirschental” that I purchased from the owner of the
“Basilisk” kennels, Josef Rolli. He
was an animal with an outstanding temperament, an excellent working dog,
extremely self-confident, but at the same time, calm and
unruffled by anything.
The Dam of “Ola”
was the important producing bitch – one of the famous X litter Arminius –
“Xandra v. Arminius”. In
addition to “Ola”, “Xandra” produced a number of top quality animals for
example, “Rambo v. Restrauch”, Youth Sieger in 1984 and V.A 4 in the Open
Class in 1986.
Ola’ sire was the important “Argus v. Aducht”, V.A2
in 1977. “Argus v.
Aducht’s” breeding reflected the influence of both “Canto v. d. Wienerau”
through his Sire, “Argus v.d. Klammle” and “Mutz v. Peltzierfarm”
through his Dam “Hella vom Eidechsbrunnen”.
With an impressive pedigree like this one would have expected “Senta:” to have been an outstanding producer. Unfortunately this was not the case. She did however, produce one top V animal “Peco v. Basilisk”, sired by the double Sieger Eiko v. Kirschental.
“Peco” was V 7 at the 1993 Sieger Show, and
subsequently exported to America.
Here once more we have an example
of a top-quality bitch from the very finest bloodlines, coming from a long
line of top producing bitches proving to be a somewhat disappointing producer,
in spite of her genetic heritage. The
element of good luck in breeding can never be eliminated.
This is what
makes the breeding of top quality German Shepherd Dogs – or any
breed of dog for that matter – such a fascinating and frustrating
hobby.
1988 Siegerin
“Ronda von Haus Beck” (1673403)
Ronda was sired by the double Sieger – 1994 and 1995 –
“Uran v. Wildsteigerland”, one of the most important sires in the history of
the breed. Ronda’s Dam was
“Janka vom Konigsadler”, was a
V bitich but not a top show
specimen. She was V 46 at the
1986 Sieger Show.
Janka’s sire was the V.A. dog “Igor vom Hylligen
Born”, a son of the V.A. dog Atlas von Dannen Waldergrund”, reflecting the
important “Mutz v.d. Peltzierfarm” influence.
Janka’s dam was also the very
well-bred “Elfe vom
Schlumborn”. She was sired by the
very important V.A. dog
“Lasso di val Sole”.
Ronda did produce some good bitches, but none that achieved
remarkable show success.
What is interesting is the fact that these top bitches are
often leased to different breeders on
breeding terms, perhaps for one litter only.
The important Judge and breeder, Erich Orschler, on one occasion had a
litter from Ronda that included the bitches Helma and Hexe von Batu.
The Sire of Inka was the V.A. dog “Gundo v. Trienzbachtal”V.A. in 1985. The Dam “Kina von Trienzbachtal” was also from very strong Trienzbachtal stock.
“Trienzbachtal” dogs were,
to a very large extent, dominant animals.
“Kina” was also a V bitch, with a number of Trienzbachtal animals in
her background.
Very much the same as was the case with “Ronda v. Haus
Beck”, “Inka”, was used by a
number of breeders to produce litters bearing their own
kennel name. Progeny
from Inka included litters that born the kennel
names of “Arminius”, and
“Haus Yu” and one from the breeder and owner of Inka – the Eichwaldhutte
kennels of Edwin Dreschner.
“Ronda”,
had a number of litters, bred by different breeders.
There were none however, that were particularly important show animals
1990
– “Inka von der Eichwaldhutte” 1695960
- once again
1991
“Yoli von Kreuzbaum” 1715579
“Yoli” was sired by the very important V.A. dog,
“Odin v. Tannenmeise”, an outstanding son of one of the pillars of the breed
“Quanto v. Arminius”. “Odin”
himself was the Sire of two Siegers – Zamb. v.d. Wienerau, the 1992 Sieger and
“Jeck v. Noricum”, a remarkable achievement.\
In addition to these two outstanding dogs, “Odin” sired
dozens of other fine animals.
“Yoli’s” Dam,
“Katy v. Arminius”, although not the
equal of Odin as a breed specimen, certainly had bloodlines equally impressive.
She was sired “Uran” out of the V.A. bitch and reserve Siegerin
“Ossi v. Kreuzbaum”. Katy’s litter brother was the important reserve
Sieger “Karly von Arminius”.
If ever there was an example of a bitch with a pedigree
specifically bred to transmit her
own excellence and produce excellent offspring, here was it..
“Yoli” was acquired by one of the most successful and knowledgeable
breeders in Germany Leonhard Schweikert. whose Agrigentor Kennels
had produced many excellent dogs. The
progeny of “Yoli” bred by Schweikert
produced a number of
important animals many of whom feature in the pedigrees of top winners
toda
Yoli was one of the few Siegerins who definitely had a
strong influence on future generations of German Shepherds
Mated to the
1994 Sieger “Kimon van. Aldehys Hoeve” on two occasions, “Yoli” produced
many excellent animals, a number of
whom have also proved to be good producers.
The name “Yoli v. Kreuzbaum” is to be found in the pedigrees of many
of the top winning animals today
1992 Siegerin “Vanta von der Wienerau”
1763095
Vanta, a really outstanding bitch, sired by the 1992 Sieger
“Zamb v.d. Wienerau” – one of the two Sieger sons produced by the
important V.A. dog “Odin v.d.
Tannenmeise”.
Vanta’s Dam was “Xandra v.d. Wienerau”, who was also
a VA bitch – VA 5 IN 1990 - was
equally well-bred. Her Sire
was the very dominant “Cello v.d. Romerau”, who was also a top V. winner –
V 3 at the 1987 Show.
Cello’s sire was the Reserve Sieger “Natz v. Hasenborn”, also a
very good producer. But probably of
greater importance was the fact that Cello’s Dam was “Quana v. Arminius”
– a member of the remarkable “Q” litter Arminus and litter brother to the
double Sieger “Quanto”
“Xandra’s” Dam “Ussi v.d. Winerau”, was also a
good bitch- V20 in 1987 - but not quite the equal of her daughter.
She was however, sired by the “Uran”.
With a background of this breeding – and the fact that
“Vanta” really was an exceptionally good bitch and worthy winner of the
Siegerin title not only 1992 but
again in 1994 – one would have expected her to have produced some
exceptionally good progeny and she certainly did.
Mated to the top V dog and
son of the important “Fedor v.
Arminius” she produced the very
good “W” litter, the most
successful of which was “Wanni
v.d. Wienerau”.
“Wanni” was V.A. 4 at the 1994 Sieger Show and, when exported to the U.S.A, was Siegerin on two occasions, in1997 and 1998. In America she produce some top animals.
Unfortunately – and the word unfortunately is appropriate
because it is good indication of the importance the luck plays in breeding –
“Vanta” produced very few sons of exceptional quality.
The most important son being
“Flex v.d Wienerau”, sired by the
V1 dog “Eros v.d. Luisenstrasse”.
Vanta was certainly one of the best German bitches I have
seen. In fact I
thought so highly of her that when I learnt that a “Flex” son was
available I lost no time in purchasing this young dog.
A particularly
good feature of “Vanta’ was her strong temperament and very strong
protective instinct.
1993 Siegerin “Palie vom Trienzbachtal”
1756216
Palie, was sired by
the most important Sieger “Eiko
v. Kirschental” son, the V.A.
dog “Yago v.d. Wildsteigerland”.
“Yago’s” whose Dam was another member of the famous
“Q” litter Arminius “Quina
v. Arminius”.
The Dam of
“Palie” was the Trienzbachtal bitch “Puste v. Trienzbachtal”, a
top “V” bitch and daughter of “Gundo v. Trienzabachtal”
The Dam of “Puste” was “Yorka
v. Trienzbachtal” and so we see very strong influence of the dominant
“Trienzbachtal” bitch line.
“Palie” was
another fine bitch acquired by the astute “Agrigento” breeder Leonhard
Schweikert. It is therefore not
surprising that she was mated to dogs whose bloodlines matched her and she
produced a number of very fine animals. Mated
to the Sieger “Kimon”, she produced the “H” and subsequently the “Y”
litter Agrigento. Mated to “Cim v. Ecknachtal” she produced the
“T” litter. Many of the
names of the progeny of these dogs appear in the pedigrees of today’s top
dogs.
1994
Siegerin “Vanta v.d. Wienerau”
once again.
1995
Siegerin “Nathalie von der Wienerau” 180344
Nathalie’s
breeding was identical to that of her older sister “Vanta”. She was sired by “Zamb” out of “Xandra v.d. Wienerau”.
Unfortunately
“Nathalie” had two litters. She
was bred to the 1997 Sieger
“Lasso v.d. Neuenberg” to produce the “J” litter that included the top
quality “Jade v. Blue Rose” V.A. 4 IN 1998.
“Jade”
unfortunately did not produce any top V. animals with the exception of “Carlie
v. Blue Rose”, sired by the Rikkor v. Bad Boll son “Kevin v. Murrtal”
1996
Siegerin “Quena vom Haus Sommerlande (1901790)
Quena was sired by
the Dutch bred dog “Karo vom Tweerland”, who was sired by the 1993 Sieger
“Jeck v. Noricum”. Quena’s
Dam, “Gipsy du Village le Plus Long Alsace”, was sired by “Gorbi v. Bad
Boll”.
Karo was a good V
dog, and was placed V 19 at the 1994 Sieger Show. His Dam, “Biene van Tweerland”, was bred from animals
with strong temperaments. “Biene’s”
Sire was the V.A. dog, “Putz von
Arjakjo”.
Her Dam was “Vera
vom Antrefftal”.
“Quena” was
mated to the Reserve Sieger “Jango
v. Furstenburg” and produced two
good animals,
“Bar von der
Ostfriesischen Thingstatte” who proved to be a very good and popular stud, and
his litter sister”Bela” who was a good
producer of quality stock. One of
her sons “Dento” was V.A. 3 at the Sieger Show in Pakistan in 2006.
Connie was sired by
the top V and very important sire “Eros. v Luissenstrasse” – the Cello v.d.
Romerau” son -
out of the very good
producing bitch “Dagi v. Farbenspiel”, who produced a number of
other fine animals bedsides Connie.
Dagi v. Farbenspiel”
was sired by Bac v. Huhengrab – a Odin v. Tannenmeise son – and her
Dam was the Cello daughter “Ledi
v. Luisenstrasse”. As will
be seen there was line breeding on
“Cello”.
It should also be
noted that “Ledi, although she not an exceptionally good show specimen – V
78 at the 1990 Sieger Show -
she
came from a long time of
“Farbenspiel” bitches. Obviously
“Cannie’s” breeding was not haphazard.
It was certainly planned.
It is possibly
because of this that she produced a large number of excellent progeny in her
litters, the most important of which
was the result of a mating to the important
2000 Sieger “Ursus v. Batu” that produced the double Sieger “Yasko v.
Farbenspiel”.
The lesson to be
learn from this examination of Connie’s pedigree is that it is not essential
for a bitch to be a top show specimen in order
to be an excellent producer. There
were bitches in Connie’s pedigree
that did not have particularly distinguished careers as show
animals, but their bloodlines were the very best.
In addition to
this, in type they mirrored the type of quality the breeder was looking for.
Obviously luck is
always an important element in
breeding success, but the chance of having luck on your side will be greatly
improved with astute breeding
practices.
Anschy was sired by
the important Reserve Sieger “Karly v. Arminius”, who we have discussed
before. He is the son of the Sieger
“Kimon”, out of the excellent producing bitch “Marit v.d. Wildsteigerland”.
Anschy’s dam was
Panja v. Wildsteigerland, who did quite well as a young animal in the junior
classes.
Panja comes from a
continuous line of Wildsteigerland bitches, very well bred, but none of which
were star performers in show classes.
Anschy did produce
some good bitches. When mated to
Hoss v. Larchenhain she did produce “Gala v. Magisstrale”, a very good V
bitch. When mated to the
double Sieger Yasko v. Farbelspiel” she produced
“Indira v. Urbecke” and when mated to the 2003 Sieger she produced “Kelly
v. Magistrale
Her influence will
continue through her bitch progeny.
Zaskia was another
one of the excellent bitches produced by “Karly v. Arminius”.
Her Dam was “Leika von Haus Bork”, a good V bitch and
very well bred, but not a bitch that achieved top honours.
Leika was sired by the 1993 Sieger “Jeck v. Noricum” out of a V.A.
bitch “Orna von der
Steinhagerquelle”, a “Uran”
daughter.
“Zaskia” did
not prove to be a bitch that
reproduced her own excellence, which is somewhat surprising considering her
excellent breeding.
2000
Siegerin “Chipsi v.d. Herdersfarm”
(1961757)
“Chipsi” was
sired by the important V.A. dog “Natz v. Steigerhof”- V.A. 4 in 1997 – a
son of Nutz vom. Monchberg” who
was a Mark v. Haus Beck son. The
dam of “Natz v. Steigerhof” was
the Fanto v. Hirschel daughter, Paola v.d. Murrenhutte.
“Chipsi’s”
Dam was the V.A. bitch “Xena v. Wildsteigerland” a remarkably good
bitch who was also was a very good
brood bitch with a number of
excellent progeny. Not only were
these animals good in themselves they also produced well.
“Chipsi”
was sold to Norway where she produced some good progeny that included a
bitch – Ginny av Thorarinn that
was V.A 2 . at the American Sieger Show in
2001
2001
Siegerin “Millo
v. Frutteto” 2019195
Milla was sired by
the Dutch Bred dog “Xano Shanto’s” a Flick v. Arlett son, who was V.A.in
1997. Flick was a Yago v.
Wildsteigerland son.
Milla’s Dam was
the Italian bred “Dolli di Casa Piellier”, a good V bitch, but not a top
show winner.
Milla produced some
excellent stock for her Italian owner and breeder of the “Frutteto”
Kennels,Ambrogio Verpelli, including the bitch “Tiana Frutteto” who was
Siegerin at the 2004 American Sieger Show.
2002
Siegerin Karma von Ochsentor
(2031747)
Karma was one of
the few Siegerins who was not only an outstanding show specimen, but also a
remarkably good producer.
Karma was sired by
the Italian bred dog Wasko diUlmental, an
excellent specimen who was very well placed in the Youth class at the 1998 Sieger Show, where he was
placed third in a very strong class, judged by Ernst. Ruckert.
“Wasko” was sired by the
important Italian bed Sire “Max della Loggia dei Mercanti”, the 1996
Sieger Visum v. Arminius son.
“Max” was V.A 8 IN 1996.
Wasko’s Dam was
Elly v.d. Feurball, a “Fanto v. Hirschel” daughter.
The
name of “Fanto” is worthwhile mentioning in the context of good producing
bitches. Even though the double
Sieger “Fanto v. Hirschel” – Sieger in 1990 and 1991 – is regarded as a
disappointing Sire in that he produced very few sons of quality, it is quite
amazing how often his name appears in the pedigrees of top quality bitches.
Karma’s Dam was
“Feli v. Ochsentor”, was sired by “Esko v. Wienerau”- a Zamb son out of
the V.A. bitch "Xanda v.d. Wienerau" who was VA. times, in 1994, 1995
and 1996
Esko’s breeding
is very interesting. The mating to
“Xandra” was so successful that it was repeated a number of times, and every
time with excellent results. In
addition to “Esko” the mating producing the excellent producer “Matty v.d.
Wienerau”, the V.A. bitch “Nathalie v. Wienerau” and of course the
remarkable “V” litter that produced the
double Siegerin “Vanta”.
Examining
“Esko’s” progeny it is somewhat surprising that he was not as successful a
Sire as one would have expected from a dog
of such an exceptional quality with
such a excellent pedigree. I can
recall discussing this many years ago with
the late, extremely knowledgeable Ruth
Stuttchen, of the famed Murrenhutte kennels, from whom I one purchased an Esko
son – out of a “Fanto”
daughter “Haidy v. Murrenhutte”. According
to Frau Suttchen a possible reason
was the fact that Esko was owned by a French breeder and
was not as accessible to German breeders as they would have wished.
In
any event, it is highly likely that
Esko’s influence – as the Sire of “Feli v. Ochsentor” was considerable.
Feli’s Dam,
“Uska v.d. Ochsentor” was also a well-bred bitch, although she never
distinguished herself as a top show
specimen. She was sired by the V.A.
“Quando v. Arminius” son, “Cimbo
v. d. Burg Reichenstein”,
Feli has proved an
excellent producer in her own right and in her litters she has produced some
fine animals in addition to “Karma”. Mated
to the 2003 Sieger “Bax v.d. Luisenstrasse” she produced the V.A. bitch
“Zora v. Ochsentor”, who was V.A.11
in 2005
2003
Sieger Show – 5/09/2003 – Ulm – Germany.
V.A.
1 – Siegerin – “Korah vom Bierstadter Hof (202637
“Korah” was sired by “Wilson aus
Agrigento”, a dog that did well at shows as a young dog before being exported
to the U.S.A. At the 2006 American
Sieger Show he was V.A. 6. Wilson
was sired by the Hungarian bred
“Stobuko vom Yohannes Berg
“Wilson’s” Dam was “Ola aus
Agrigento”, a very good show bitch who was V11 at the 1995 Sieger Show.
The Dam of
“Korah” was “Salome vom Bierstadter Hof”, sired by the important
Italian bred Sire, “Max della Loggia dei Mercanti – a Sieger Visum
Aminius son, who was V.A. at the 1996 Sieger Show.
The Dam of “Salome” was “Brasilia
vom Bierstadter Hof”. Both these
bitches were not particularly good show specimens
The only progeny of note produced by
“Korah” was “Ulan vom Bierstadter Hof” who was exported to the U.S.A
where he did well at the 2006 Show, being placed V.A. 6.
2004
Sieger Show –27th August 2004
V.A. 1 – Siegerin – Kamilla vom
Romerland (2091343)
“Kamilla” was sired by “Wallace aus
Agrigento” a very good producing son of the V.A. dog “Scott Deodatus”.
Her Dam was “Isabella vom Romerland” , a daughter of the
1995 Sieger :Lasso von Neun Berg”.
Mated to the V.A. dog , reserve Sieger in 2006 and very important Sire, “Quantum v. Arminius”, she produced an excellent dog “Scott v. Agrigento
2005
Sieger Show – 2nd. September 2005 Ulm
Siegerin
V.A. 1 “Tabata du Val Anzin”
(LOF 54429
Tabata was sired by the 2000 Sieger Ursus
v. Batu” who has had an enormous influence on the development of the breed in
recent years. Although we are
discussing bitches at the moment, perhaps it is worthwhile to digress
for the moment and examine the pedigree of Ursus.
This may give us a clue as to the reason for his remarkable prepotency.
The pedigree of Ursus represents a
combination of two of the most important sires of the modern era – the 1992
Sieger Zamb v. Winerau and the 1993 Sieger Jeck v. Noricum, both sons of Odin v.
Tannenmeise.
Ursus was sired by “Hobby v.
Gletschertopf”, a very good son
of Jeck. The Dam of Ursus was “Verena
v. Batu|, a Zamb daughter. Although
“Verena” was not a particularly good show specimen, she was bred from a long
line of “Batu” bitches going back four
generations of Batu bred bitches.
To return to our discussion about “Tabata”,
she was bred by the well-known French
breeder Eric Trentenaere. Her
Dam was the French Bred bitch from
the same du valAnzin kennels, “Ronda du
Val Anzin”, who was Siegerin at the French Sieger Show in 2003. “Ronda” was also winner of the Youth class at the
German Sieger Show in 2001
Ronda’s breeding is interesting because
her background is primarily French breeding without any indication of German
bred dogs for four generations. One has to go back four generations in her pedigree to find
evidence of the
German dogs Zamb and
Zamb’s son Tony v.d. Wienerau.
“Tabata” appears to have shown her worth as an excellent producer in addition to being a superb show specimen. Although she is still relatively young – having been whelped on the 17th February 20002, she has already produced an excellent bitch “Vana du Va Anzin”, who was French Siegerin in 2006 and V.A. 3 at the Sieger Show in Pekin
2006
Sieger Show – Siegerin
- “Xara vom Agilolfinger” 2116349
Xara was sired by the double Sieger
Laurus v. Batu- 2004 and again in 2005. Larus himself
was the son of the double Sieger “Yasko v. Farbenspiel”, who we have already
discussed. “Yasko”, the Ursus son was Sieger in 2001 and 200
Xara’s Dam, “Karma v. Ochsentor” we
discussed at length.
With such an impressive pedigree one
would certainly expect
“Xara to produce top quality progeny
At this stage it is too early to comment
on her progeny, but with her breeding and with the expert knowledge of her owner
Lothal Quoll, it would be very surprising if she did
not produce excellent animals
2007
Sieger Show – Siegerin –“Gina vom Aquamarin”
- 214
Gina was sired by “Fedor vo
Gelingenstrasse” a V dog,
but not one who had a particularly impressive show career.
He was only V. 76 at the
2004 Sieger Show
His sire , Baru
v. Haus Yu, is a popular stud dog
who had produced some good animals,
but he was also not a remarkably good show specimen, being placed V 35 in 1998.
“Baru” however, is very well bred, being a son of the important V.A.
dog “Natz. V. Steigerhof”out of an excellent bitch,
sired by the Sieger “Kimon”.
Baru’s Dam, Nina v. Tronje” was a daughter of the excellent
producing bitch “Xena v. Wildsteigerland”. This may be one of the reasons for his popularity as a sire.
It is interesting to note that
“Gina’s” Dam, “Hanka vom Turkepkopf” was also not a particularly good
show specimen. In 2002 she was SG 40 in
the Jugendklasse at the Sieger
Show. She was sired by the
important V.A.dog and excellent producer, “Esko v. Danischen Hof”, out of a
“Baru v.Haus Yu” daughter. So
here we have line-breeding on “Baru
Whether “Gina” will produce well
remains to be seen. She is still
very young, having been whelped on the 31st. May 2004.
Her pedigree is certainly not as impressive as many of the other
Siegerins we have discussed, but as mentioned on numerous occasions the question
of luck in genetics is a factor that one cannot never dismiss completely.
The first German Shepherd Dog show after the 2nd. World War at which the title of “Sieger” and “Siegerin” were awarded was in 1955.
1955 Siegerin –
“Muschka v. Tempelblick” -
864704
“Muschka” was sired by one of the best dogs in Germany at the time the V.A. dog “Arno von der Pfaffenau” . Her Dam was a very well-bred bitch “Nandl von der Hohen Fichte”, sired by a V.A animal “Cralo von Haunstette”. But “Nandl” was not a good show specimen and received only a low rating of “G” at Shows. She was however, an excellent producer and in addition to “Muschka” she also produced the 1956 Siegerin “Lore v. Tempelblick”.
“Muscha” had one litter sired by the1995 Sire “Alf . Nordfelsen”. The “V: litter “von Tempelblick” did not produce animals of exceptional quality.
1964 Siegerin “Lore v. Tempelblick”
- 855181
“Lore” was
sired by “Berusko v. Tempelblick”,
a son of an excellent dog, who was also an important sire, “Claus von Haus
Werle”. “Lore’s Dam was the
same as “Muschka’s” – “Nandl v.d.Hohen Fichte”.
“Lore” had only
one litter in Germany. She was mated to the 1956 “Sieger” “Hardt v.
Stuveschacht” and produced the “U” litter von Tempelblick.
Once again it was a disappointing litter with no animals of outstanding
show quality.
Immediately after
the Sieger Show “Lore” was sold to Dr. Otto Schales of
the United States, but she produced no litters at all.
1965 Siegerin “Wilma von Richterbach” – 893419
“Wilma’s”
breeding was the very best in Germany at the time.
Her Sire was a dog that proved one of the most important dogs in the
history of the modern Shepherd – the V.A. dog, “Axel v.d. Deininghauserheide”.
“Axel” was sired by the V.A. dog “Immo v. Hasenfang”
Apart from being a top quality specimen, and a dominant Sire, “Axel”
was also a dog with an exceptionally good temperament.
“Wilma’s” Dam
– “Hexe von Richterbach”was of
equally good breeding as he Sire. “Hexe”
was a litter sister to the important pillar of the breed “Hein von Richterbach”.
Here Sire was “BillvomOberviehland” and her Dam “Rosel von Osnabruckerland”,
lister sister to “Rolf” a dog
as important as “Axel” as a
pillar of the breed.
One would have
expected an animalwith this excllenht breeding background to have produced well,
but this sadly, was not the case.
.She produced no show specimens of any note.
1966 Siegerin
“Mascha. Stuhri Gau” 12945
“Mascha” was
sired by the “Rolf” son ‘Brando v. Tappenort”, a
top V.A. dog, and her Dam was also a top show specimen, the V.A. bitch
“Werra zu den Sieben Faulen”. “Werra”
was sired by a well-bred dog “Etu
vom Zierenberg”, a son of an exccptionally good producer of show winning
animals “Arry von der
Gassenquelle”. “Etu”,
however, was not a particularly good show specimen, placed Sg 59 at the 1951
Sieger Show.
Unfortunately
“Mascha” is also a bitch that
is never produced any animals of note.
1967 “Siegerin”
“Assja z. Geigenklause” 929832
“Assja” was
sired by the very dominant Sire “Caesar v.d. Malmannshiede”, a son of
“Hein v. Richterbach”.
I had the pleasure
of seeing “|Caesar” at the
home of his owner and breeder Ernst Grurmann and was struck
with the tremendous vitality
of this dog that had been placed V.A. on
no less than five occasions.
“Caesar”
produced a number of excellent show specimens.
“Assja’s” Dam
was Kaethe Crossman, a lady I also had the pleasure of meeting.
Her “Sandbachdam” kennels were very well known, and breeding from the
same bitch line for several generations she subsequently produced many fine show
specimens. “Assja” herself, however did not produce any show
specimens of any note.
1968 “Siegerin”
Inka Grubenstolz 969715
“Inka” was
sired by another excellent “Rolf” son, the V.A. dog, “Donar v.d.
Firsskuppe”. Her Dam was a
good show specimen, but not a V.A. bitch
– Trasa von Colonia Agrippina”. “Trasa”
was sired by “Fred zu den Sieben Faulen” who was a very well-bred dog, but
not a particularly notable show winner.
“Inka” produced
a number of good specimens, but none of them reached great heights in the show
ring.
What is interesting
– and very revealing – is that
these animals were retained for breeding purposes by
owners who were aware of their genetic value. After a few generations, when mated to Sires whose pedigrees
proved to be suitable for theirs, they did produce top quality animals.
1969 “Siegerin”
“Assie v. Hexenkolk” (920614)
“Assie” was
sired by a dog that was not a particularly good show specimen – “Fero von
der Emsschleuse” – but he was the son of the important V.A. dog “Fels
vom Vogtlandshof”, who was also very well bred.
“Fero’s” Dam,
“Cora vom Walburgitor” was also
a top V.A show
bitch.
“Assie”s” Dam
was the “Caesar v.d. Malmannsheide” litter sister “Cora”.
Mated to the
excellent show specimen “Gero von Haus Elkemann” “Assie” did produce the very successful “K” litter in
which there were a number of fine bitches and an excellent male “Kay von
Hexenkolk”. “Kay”, who was
highly placed V12 at the 1966 Sieger Show was a very popular Stud dog and
produced many excellent animals.
Although the
bitches in this “K” litter were not exceptionally successful show specimens
themselves, they had an important influence on the breed through there many fine
sons and daughters.
It is obvious from
our study it is unfair to assess the importance of a bitch by examining her
direct offspring. More often
or not the value of a top quality,
well-bred bitch lies in the ability of her descendants to demonstrate the
importance of their genetic heritage by
producing excellent specimens.
1970 “Siegerin”
“Rike v. Colonia Agrippina” 979540
The sire of “Rike”,
“Unfried v. Colonia Agrippina” was
a dog that had not make his mark in the Show ring.
He was however, the son of an
important V.A. dog, “Atlas v.
Dinas Eck”
“Rike’s” Dam,
“Forma v. Colonia Agrippina”, on the other hand, was an excellent show
specimen, who was very highly placed at the Sieger Shows in 1959,1960 and 1961.
Her Sire was the excellent producer, and excellent show specimen “Alf
v. Walddirf-Emst”, a dog that I had the
privilege of seeing at the home of his proud owner, Walter Lueg.
“Alf’s”
pedigree was exemplary as he was a “Rolf” son out of an “Axel v.d.
Deininghauserheide daughter.
This was a
combination of
breeding responsible for a great number of excellent animals.
In spite of her
excellent pedigree “Rike” does not appear to have produced any animals of
note, whose names appear in the pedigrees of top show specimens.
1971 “Siegerin”
“Maja v. Stolper Land” (991118)
“Maja” was
sired by the important “Alf v. Walddorf-Ems” son, “Marko von Boxhochburg”
who was very highly placed at the 1959, 1960 and 1961 Sieger Shows.
“Maja’s” Dam was the excellent
“V” . bitch and “Rolf”
daughter “Werra v. Osnabrueckerland”.
Mated to the S.G.
rated dog “Lex v. Colonia Agrippina”she produced the bitch “Velia”.
“Velia” does not appear to have any sons or daughters that have had
an important influence on the breed.
1964
“Siegerin” “Blanka
v. Kisskamp” (1004734)
The Sire of
“Blanka” was the 1962 Sieger “Mutz aus der Kuckstrasse”, the 1958 Sieger
Condor v. Hohenstamm” son. The
Dam of “Blanka” was a relatively unknown bitch, “Iris v. Walienhof”.
Although
“Blanka” did not produce any top winners herself, mated to the very well-bred “Quai v.d. Schinklergrenze” and
subsequently the top V dog “Sam
v.d. Schinklergrenze”, she did
produce the important “X” and “Z”
litter “Kattenstroth that included many excellent animals whose names
frequently appear in the pedigrees of top
winners
1965 “Siegerin”
“Landa v.d. Wienerau”
(1029754)
Landa was sired by
the very important V.A. winner “Jalk v. Fohlenbrunnen”, V.A.
in 1961,62 and Reserve Sieger in 1963, an exceptionally fine specimen,
and dominant Sire. He was the son
of another important dog “Vello zu den Sieben Faulen”, who was also an
excellent producer, but criticized for being oversized.
Landa’s Dam
“Dixie v.d. Wienerau” was not a particularly good show specimen. She was
only a very low placed SG 56 at the Sieger Show in 1961.
Neverthless her breeding was excellent.
She was sired by the V.A. dog “Arno v. Haus Schwingel” our of a bitch
sired by the 1955 Sieger v. Nordfelsen. She also proved to be an exceptionally
good brood bitch and produced some excellent
progeny in addition to Landa.
For some strange
reason “Landa” does not appear to have produced any registered progeny.
1966 ‘Siegerin”
“Cita vom Gruhental” (1050514)
Cita was sired by a
relatively unknown and unshown dog “Cello
Forsthausstrasse”, who was sired by a good show specimen, the “Alf v.
Nordfelsen” son, “Donar v. Elfenhain”.
Cita’s Dam
“Mira v.d. Balinger Bergen” was also a bitch that had never been
shown. Her Sire “Falk v.
Bubenlachring” was also not an animal that had been highly placed at Sieger
Shows.
Not surprisingly,
Cita did not produce any progeny of note.
1967 “Siegerin”
“Betty von Glockenland”
Betty was sired by
the “Jalk v. Fohlenbrunne” son, “Black von Lambertzeck”, who was a good
specimen, but not a top show
winner.
Batty’s Dam
“Sonia v. Glockenland” was not a successful show bitch receivingonly
SG rating at the 1960 and 1961 Sieger shows.
However her Sire “Alf v. Heilengensteg” was a top V. animal, and
sired by the V.A. son of “Rolf”, “Brando v. Tappenort”. It is interesting to note that
“Sonia’s” Dam “Frei v. Haus Werkstadt” was an “Axel”
daughter. So here again we
have an example of the very successful formula, an “Axel” daughter being bred to
a “Rolf” son
“Betty von
Glockenland”, in spite of her good breeding, did not produce any progeny of
note.
1968 “Siegerin”
“Romy von Driland” (1104338)
Romy was sired by
the highly rated V dog “Kay v.
Hexelkolk”, whose Dam was the 1961 Siegerin “Assie v. Hexenkolk.
Kay was sired by important the
V dog
“Gero v. Hexenkolk” who we discussed in dealing with the 1961
Siegerin “Assie”.
Romi’s Dam was an
unshown bitch “Cilli vom Helfriedsheim” of good breeding.
Her Sire “Iro von der Haller Farm” – V 10
at the 1961 Show. Her Dam
was, “Mori aus der Kuckstrasse”, litters sister of the 1962
Sieger “Mutz”.
“Romi” did not
produce any animals of note.
Connie was sired by the 1968 “Sieger” “Dido v.d. Werther Konigsallee”, a son of the 1964 Sieger “Zibu v. Haus Schuetting”. Connie’s Dam - “Farah v.d. Starrenberg” was equally well bred. Highly placed at the 1965 Sieger Show where she was V 7, she was sired by “Jalk v.d. Fohlenbrunnen” and her Dam was the 1962 Reserve Siegerin “Welle v.d. Starrenberg”. This was a breeding I was personally well acquainted with because I once owned a bitch of the identical breeding.
“Connie’s” pedigree could not have been improved upon, and it is not surprising that she proved an exceptionally good brood bitch. Mated to the important pillar of the breed “Quanto v.d. Wienerau” she produced a number of excellent animals, including the outstanding V.A. male “Gundo v.d. Klosterbogen.
Mated to the important “Quanto v.d. Wienerau” son “Cliff v. Haus Beck”, she produced the outstanding N litter, that included the V.A. bitch, “Nanni v. Klosterbogen”,
Here certainly an example of a top show bitch producing as well as had been expected, based on her excellent pedigree.
1970 Siegerin “Diane
v.d. Firmskuppe”(1133839)
Diane was sired by the 1963 Sieger “Ajax v. Haus Dexel”, who produced a great many fine animals.
Diane’s Dam, “Ulli v.d. Firnskuppe” was a very well-bred animals, sired the important V. dog “Klodo v.d. Eremitenklause. Although “Ulli” was not a particularly good show bitch, she was an excellent brood bitch. In addition to “Diane” she produced a number of other fine specimens.
Although Diane does not appear to have produced much in the way of show animals, her name often appears in the name of animals that achieved distinction in the working field.
1971 Siegerin .”Kathja v.d. Rheinliese”
(1162240)
Kathja was sired the Reserve Sieger in 1969, the very well angulated “Nick v. Dreimarkenstein”. “Nick” was a son of an animal referred to earlier, “Lido v.d. Wienerau”, an important show sinner and excellent sire and litter brother to the Siegerin “Landa v.d. Wienerau”.
Kathja’s Dam was “Hexe v.d. Rheinliese” who was sired by the V.A. dog – V.A. 5 in 1964 “Droll v.d. Grafenkopf”, a son of “Klodo v.d. Eremitenklause”, referred to earlier.
Kathja unfortunately does not appear to have any registered progeny.
Katinka was sired by “Olden v. Asterplatz”, a son of the very important Sire “Nico v. Haus Beck”. Nico was a son of the 1961 Sieger “Veus v.d. Starrenberg”. Nico’s importance lies in the fact that in addition to being an excellent show specimen, and a dominant sire, he was also known to have produced animals with very sound, working temperaments.
“Olden” was a good V. dog, V 17 at the 1970 show, and an excellent sire of working stock. One of the animals sired by him “Eck von Charlottenhof” was the working dog champion in 1977.
Katinka’s Dam was “Exa v.d. Croonstad”, a daughter of “Klodo v.d. Eremitenklause”
It is certainly to be regretted that this fine bitch with excellent working bloodlines as well as good show bloodlines had no progeny registered.
Erka was sired by the dog that has perhaps had more influence on the development of the modern German Shepherd than any other dog, “Canto v.d. Wienerau”. “Canto” was an important pillar of the breed. Although he died young at the age of only 4, his influence was so widespread his name appears in the pedigrees of almost every show winner today.
Although his own temperament was not as strong as one would have wished and neither was that of his Sire, “Hein v. Konigsbruch”, he nevertheless produced many animals with strong temperaments in addition to excellent construction.
Erka’s Dam was Druxi v. Silberbrand a well-bred but unshown bitch. “Druxi’s” Sire was “Siggo v. Wienderau”, a son of Jalk v.
From 1974 – 1987 the awarding of the “Sieger” and
“Siegerin” titles was temporarily discontinued.
A group of the top
dogs and bitches were awarded
V.A. (Excellent Select)
classifications.
From 1998
until the present time “Sieger” and “Siegerin” titles were
awarded once again.
1988 Siegerin
“Ronda von Haus Beck” (1673403)
Ronda was sired by the double Sieger – 1994 and 1995 – “Uran v. Wildsteigerland”, one of the most important sires in the history of the breed. Ronda’s Dam was “Janka vom Konigsadler”, was a V bitich but not a top show specimen. She was V 46 at the 1986 Sieger Show.
Janka’s sire was the V.A. dog “Igor vom Hylligen Born”, a son of the V.A. dog Atlas von Dannen Waldergrund”, reflecting the important “Mutz v.d. Peltzierfarm” influence.
Janka’s dam was also very well-bred “Elfe vom Schlumborn”. She was sired by the very important V.A. dog “Lasso di val Sole”.
Ronda did produce some good bitches, but none that achieved remarkable show success.
What is interesting is the fact that these top bitches are often leased to different breeders on breeding terms, perhaps for one litter only. The important Judge and breeder, Erich Orschler, on one occasion had a litter from Ronda that included the bitches Helma and Hexe von Batu.
The Sire of Inka was the V.A. dog “Gundo v. Trienzbachtal”V.A. in 1985. The Dam “Kina von Trienzbachtal” was also from very strong Trienzbachtal stock. “Trienzbachtal” dogs were, to a very large extent, dominant animals. “Kina” was also a V bitch, with a number of Trienzbachtal animals in her background.
Very much the same as was the case with “Ronda v. Haus Beck”, “Inka”, was used by a number of breeders to produce litters bearing their own kennel name. Progeny from Inka included litters that born the kennel names of “Arminius”, and “Haus Yu” and one from the breeder and owner of Inka – the Eichwaldhutte kennels of Edwin Dreschner.
“Ronda”, had a number of litters, bred by different breeders. There were none however, that were particularly important show animals
1990 –
“Inka von der Eichwaldhutte” 1695960
- once again
1991 “Yoli von
Kreuzbaum” 1715579
“Yoli” was sired by the very important V.A. dog, “Odin v. Tannenmeise”, an outstanding son of one of the pillars of the breed “Quanto v. Arminius”. “Odin” himself was the Sire of two Siegers – Zamb. v.d. Wienerau, the 1992 Sieger and “Jeck v. Noricum”, a remarkable achievement.\
In addition to these two outstanding dogs, “Odin” sired dozens of other fine animals.
“Yoli’s” Dam, “Katy v. Arminius”, although not the equal of Odin as a breed specimen, certainly had bloodlinesequally impressive. She was sired “Uran” out of the V.A. bitch and reserve Siegerin “Ossi v. Kreuzbaum”.Katy’s litter brother was the important reserve Sieger “Karly von Arminius”.
If ever there was an example of a bitch with a pedigree specifically designed to transmit her own excellence and produce excellent offspring, here was it.. “Yoli” was acquired by one of the most successful and knowledgeable breeders in Germany Leonhard Schweikert. whose Agrigentor Kennels had produced many excellent dogs. The progeny of “Yoli” bred by Schweikert produced a number of important animals many of whom feature in the pedigrees of top winners today.
Yoli was one of the few Siegerins who definitely had a strong influence on future generations of German Shepherds.
Mated to the 1994 Sieger “Kimon van. Aldehys Hoeve” on two occasions, “Yoli” produced many excellent animals, a number of whom have also proved to be good producers. The name “Yoli v. Kreuzbaum” is to be found in the pedigrees of many of the top winning animals today.
1992 Siegerin “Vanta von der Wienerau”
1763095
Vanta, a really outstanding bitch, sired by the 1992 Sieger “Zamb v.d. Wienerau” – one of the two Sieger sons produced by the important V.A. dog “Odin v.d. Tannenmeise”.
Vanta’s Dam was “Xandra v.d. Wienerau”, who was also a VA bitch – VA 5 IN 1990 - was equally well-bred. Her Sire was the very dominant “Cello v.d. Romerau”, who was also a top V. winner – V 3 at the 1987 Show. Cello’s sire was the Reserve Sieger “Natz v. Hasenborn”, also a very good producer. But probably of greater importance was the fact that Cello’s Dam was “Quana v. Arminius” – a member of the remarkable “Q” litter Arminus and litter brother to the double Sieger “Quanto”.
“Xandra’s” Dam “Ussi v.d. Winerau”, was also a good bitch- V20 in 1987 - but not quite the equal of her daughter. She was however, sired by the “Uran”.
With a background of this breeding – and the fact that “Vanta” really was an exceptionally good bitch and worthy winner of the Siegerin title not only 1992 but again in 1994 – one would have expected her to have produced some exceptionally good progeny and she certainly did. Mated to the top V dog and son of the important “Fedor v. Arminius” she produced the very good “W” litter, the most successful of which was “Wanni v.d. Wienerau”.
“Wanni” was V.A. 4 at the 1994 Sieger Show and, when exported to the U.S.A, was Siegerin on two occasions, in1997 and 1998. In America she produce some top animals.
Unfortunately – and the word unfortunately is appropriate because it is good indication of the importance the luck plays in breeding – “Vanta” produced very few sons of exceptional quality. The most important son being “Flex v.d Wienerau”, sired by the V1 dog “Eros v.d. Luisenstrasse”.
Vanta was certainly one of the best German bitches I have seen. In fact I thought so highly of her that when I learnt that a “Flex” son was available I lost no time in purchasing this young dog.
A particularly good feature of “Vanta’ was her strong temperament and very strong protective instinct.
1993 Siegerin “Palie vom Trienzbachtal”
1756216
Palie, was sired by
the most important Sieger “Eiko
v. Kirschental” son, the V.A.
dog “Yago v.d. Wildsteigerland”.
“Yago’s” whose Dam was another member of the famous
“Q” litter Arminius “Quina
v. Arminius”.
The Dam of
“Palie” was the Trienzbachtal bitch “Puste v. Trienzbachtal”, a
top “V” bitch and daughter of “Gundo v. Trienzabachtal”
The Dam of “Puste” was “Yorka
v. Trienzbachtal” and so we see very strong influence of the dominant
“Trienzbachtal” bitch line.
“Palie” was
another fine bitch acquired by the astute “Agrigento” breeder Leonhard
Schweikert. It is therefore not
surprising that she was mated to dogs whose bloodlines matched her and she
produced a number of very fine animals. Mated
to the Sieger “Kimon”, she produced the “H” and subsequently the “Y”
litter Agrigento. Mated to “Cim v. Ecknachtal” she produced the
“T” litter. Many of the
names of the progeny of these dogs appear in the pedigrees of today’s top
dogs.
1994 Siegerin
“Vanta v.d. Wienerau” once again.
1995
Siegerin “Nathalie von der Wienerau” 1803447
Nathalie’s
breeding was identical to that of her older sister “Vanta”. She was sired by “Zamb” out of “Xandra v.d. Wienerau”.
Unfortunately
“Nathalie” had two litters. She
was bred to the 1997 Sieger
“Lasso v.d. Neuenberg” to produce the “J” litter that included the top
quality “Jade v. Blue Rose” V.A. 4 IN 1998.
“Jade”
unfortunately did not produce any top V. animals with the exception of “Carlie
v. Blue Rose”, sired by the Rikkor v. Bad Boll son “Kevin v. Murrtal”
1996 Siegerin
“Quena vom Haus Sommerlande (1901790)
Quena was sired by
the Dutch bred dog “Karo vom Tweerland”, who was sired by the 1993 Sieger
“Jeck v. Noricum”. Quena’s
Dam, “Gipsy du Village le Plus Long Alsace”, was sired by “Gorbi v. Bad
Boll”.
Karo was a good V
dog, and was placed V 19 at the 1994 Sieger Show. His Dam, “Biene van Tweerland”, was bred from animals
with strong temperaments. “Biene’s”
Sire was the V.A. dog, “Putz von
Arjakjo”.
Her Dam was “Vera
vom Antrefftal”.
“Quena” was
mated to the Reserve Sieger “Jango
v. Furstenburg” and produced two
good animals,
“Bar von der
Ostfriesischen Thingstatte” who proved to be a very good and popular stud, and
his litter sister”Bela” who was a good
producer of quality stock. One of
her sons “Dento” was V.A. 3 at the I Sieger Show in Pakistan in 2006.
Connie was sired by
the top V and very important sire “Eros. v Luissenstrasse” – the Cello v.d.
Romerau” son -
out of the very good
producing bitch “Dagi v. Farbenspiel”, who produced a number of
other fine animals bedsides Connie.
Dagi v. Farbenspiel”
was sired byBac v. Huhengrab – a Odin v. Tannenmeise son – and her
Dam was the Cello daughter “Ledi
v. Luisenstrasse”. As will
be seen there was line breeding on
“Cello”.
It should also be
noted that “Ledi, although she not an exceptionally good show specimen – V
78 at the 1990 Sieger Show -
came from a long time of “Farbenspiel” bitches.
Obviously “Cannie’s” breeding was not haphazard.
Obviously luck is
always an important element in
breeding success, but the chance of having luck on your side will be improved
with astute breeding practices.
Anschy was sired by
the important Reserve Sieger “Karly v. Arminius”, who we have discussed
before. He is the son of the Sieger
“Kimon”, out of the excellent producing bitch “Marit v.d. Wildsteigerland”.
Anschy’s dam was
Panja v. Wildsteigerland, who did quite well as a young animal in the junior
classes.
Panja comes from a
continuous line of Wildsteigerland bitches, very well bred, but none of which
were star performers in show classes.
Anschy did produce
some good bitches. When mated to
Hoss v. Larchenhain she did produce “Gala v. Magisstrale”, a very good V
bitch. When mated to the
double Sieger Yasko v. Farbelspiel” she produced
“Indira v. Urbecke” and when mated to the 2003 Sieger she produced “Kelly
v. Magistrale”
Her influence will
continue through her bitch progeny.
Zaskia was another
one of the excellent bitches produced by “Karly v. Arminius”.
Her Dam was “Leika von Haus Bork”, a good V bitch and
very well bred, but not a bitch that achieved top honours.
Leika was sired by the 1993 Sieger “Jeck v. Noricum” out of a V.A.
bitch “Orna von der
Steinhagerquelle”, a “Uran”
daughter.
“Zaskia” did
not prove to be a bitch that
reproduced her own excellence, which is somewhat surprising considering her
excellent breeding.
2000
Siegerin “Chipsi v.d. Herdersfarm”
(1961757)
“Chipsi” was
sired by the important V.A. dog “Natz v. Steigerhof”- V.A. 4 in 1997 – a
son of Nutz vom. Monchberg” who
was a Mark v. Haus Beck son. The
dam of “Natz v. Steigerhof” was
the Fanto v. Hirschel daughter, Paola v.d. Murrenhutte.
“Chipsi’s”
Dam was the V.A. bitch “Xena v. Wildsteigerland” a remarkably good
bitch who was also was a very good
brood bitch with a number of
excellent progeny. Not only were
these animals good in themselves they also produced well.
“Chipsi”
was sold to Norway where she produced some good progeny that included a
bitch – Ginny av Thorarinn that
was V.A 2 . at the American Sieger Show in
2001
2001 Siegerin “|Millo
v. Frutteto” 2019195
Milla was sired by
the Dutch Bred dog “Xano Shanto’s” a Flick v. Arlett son, who was V.A.in
1997. Flick was a Yago v.
Wildsteigerland son.
Milla’s Dam was
the Italian bred “Dolli di Casa Piellier”, a good V bitch, but not a top
show winner.
Milla produced some
excellent stock for her Italian owner and breeder of the “Frutteto”
Kennels,Ambrogio Verpelli, including the bitch “Tiano Frutteto” who was
Siegerin at the 2004 American Sieger Show.
2002 Siegerin
Karma von Ochsentor (2031747)
Karma was one of
the few Siegerins who was not only an outstanding show specimen, but also a
remarkably good producer.
Karma was sired by
the Italian bred dog Wasko diUlmental, an
excellent specimen who was very well placed in the Youth class at the 1998 Sieger Show, where he was
placed third in a very strong class, judged by Ernst. Ruckert.
“Wasko” was sired by the
important Italian bed Sire “Max della Loggia dei Mercanti”, the 1996
Sieger Visum v. Arminius son.
“Max” was V.A 8 IN 1996.
Wasko’s Dam was
Elly v.d. Feurball, a “Fanto v. Hirschel” daughter.
The
name of “Fanto” is worthwhile mentioning in the context of good producing
bitches. Even though the double
Sieger “Fanto v. Hirschel” – Sieger in 1990 and 1991 – is regarded as a
disappointing Sire in that he produced very few sons of quality, it is quite
amazing how often his name appears in the pedigrees of top quality bitches.
Karma’s Dam was
“Feli v. Ochsentor”, was sired by “Esko v. Wienerau”- a Zamb son out of
the V.A. bitch
“Xandra
v. Winerau”, who was VA. times, in 1994, 1995 and 1996.
Esko’s breeding
is very interesting. The mating to
“Xandra” was so successful that it was repeated a number of times, and every
time with excellent results. In
addition to “Esko” the mating producing the excellent producer “Matty v.d.
Wienerau”, the V.A. bitch “Nathalie v. Wienerau” and of course the
remarkable “V” litter that produced the
double Siegerin “Vanta”.
Examining
“Esko’s” progeny it is somewhat surprising that he was not as successful a
Sire as one would have expected from a dog
of such an exceptional quality with
such a excellent pedigree. I can
recall discussing this many years ago with
the late, extremely knowledgeable Ruth
Stuttchen, of the famed Murrenhutte kennels, from whom I one purchased an Esko
son – out of a “Fanto”
daughter “Haidy v. Murrenhutte”. According
to Frau Suttchen a possible reason
was the fact that Esko was owned by a French breeder and
was not as accessible to German breeders as they would have wished.
In
any event, it is highly likely that
Esko’s influence – as the Sire of “Feli v. Ochsentor” was considerable.
Feli’s Dam,
“Uska v.d. Ochsentor” was also a well-bred bitch, although she never
distinguished herself as a top show
specimen. She was sired by the V.A.
“Quando v. Arminius” son, “Cimbo
v. d. Burg Reichenstein”,
Feli has proved an
excellent producer in her own right and in her litters she has produced some
fine animals in addition to “Karma”. Mated
to the 2003 Sieger “Bax v.d. Luisenstrasse” she produced the V.A. bitch
“Zora v.
Ochsentor”, who was V.A.11 in
2005.
2003
Sieger Show – 5/09/2003 – Ulm – Germany.
V.A.
1 – Siegerin – “Korah vom Bierstadter Hof (2026376)
“Korah” was sired by
“Wilson aus Agrigento”, a dog that did well at shows as a young dog before
being exported to the U.S.A. At the
2006 American Sieger Show he was V.A. 6.
Wilson was sired by the Hungarian
bred “Stobuko vom Yohannes Berg”.
“Wilson’s” Dam was
“Ola aus Agrigento”, a very good show bitch who was V11 at the 1995 Sieger
Show.
The Dam of
“Korah” was “Salome vom Bierstadter Hof”, sired by the important Italian
bred Sire, “Max della Loggia dei Mercanti – a Sieger Visum Aminius son, who
was V.A. at the 1996 Sieger Show.
The Dam of “Salome”
was “Brasilia vom Bierstadter Hof”. Both
these bitches were not particularly good show specimens.
The only progeny of note
produced by “Korah” was “Ulan vom Bierstadter Hof” who was exported to
the U.S.A where he did well at the 2006 Show, being placed V.A. 6.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2004
Sieger Show –27th August 2004
V.A. 1 – Siegerin – Kamilla vom Romerland
(2091343)
“Kamilla” was sired
by “Wallace aus Agrigento” a very good producing son of the V.A. dog “Scott Deodatus”.
Her Dam was “Isabella vom Romerland” , a daughter of the
1995 Sieger :Lasso von Neun Berg”.
Mated to the V.A. dog ,
reserve Sieger in 2006 and very important Sire, “Quantum v. Arminius”, she
produced an excellent dog “Scott v. Agrigento”.
2005
Sieger Show – 2nd. September 2005 Ulm
Siegerin V.A. 1 “Tabata du Val Anzin” (LOF 544290)
Tabata was sired by the
2000 Sieger Ursus v. Batu” who has had an enormous influence on the
development of the breed in recent years.
Although we are discussing bitches at the moment, perhaps it is worthwhile to digress
for the moment and examine the pedigree of Ursus.
This may give us a clue as to the reason for his remarkable prepotency.
The pedigree of Ursus
represents a combination of two of the most important sires of the modern era
– the 1992 Sieger Zamb v. Winerau and the 1993 Sieger Jeck v. Noricum, both
sons of Odin v. Tannenmeise.
Ursus was sired by
“Hobby v. Gletschertopf”, a very
good son of Jeck. The Dam of Ursus was “Verena
v. Batu|, a Zamb daughter. Although
“Verena” was not a particularly good show specimen, she was bred from a long
line of “Batu” bitches going back four
generations of Batu bred bitches.
To return to our
discussion about “Tabata”, she was bred by the well-known
French breeder Eric Trentenaere. Her
Dam was the French Bred bitch from
the same du valAnzin kennels, “Ronda du
Val Anzin”, who was Siegerin at the French Sieger Show in 2003.
“Ronda” was also winner of the Youth class at the German Sieger Show
in 2001.
Ronda’s breeding is
interesting because her background is primarily French breeding without any
indication of German bred dogs for four generations. One has to go back four generations in her pedigree to find
evidence of the
German dogs Zamb and
Zamb’s son Tony v.d. Wienerau.
“Tabata” appears to
have shown her worth as an excellent producer in addition to being a superb show
specimen. Although she is still
relatively young – having been whelped on the 17th February 20002,
she has already produced an excellent bitch “Vana du Va Anzin”, who was
French Siegerin in 2006 and V.A. 3 at the Sieger Show in Peking.
2006
Sieger Show – Siegerin - “Xara
vom Agilolfinger” 2116349
Xara was sired by the
double Sieger Laurus v. Batu- 2004 and again in 2005. Larus himself
was the son of the double Sieger “Yasko v. Farbenspiel”, who we have already
discussed. “Yasko”, the Ursus son was Sieger in 2001 and 2002.
Xara’s Dam, “Karma v.
Ochsentor” we discussed at length.
With such an impressive
pedigree one would certainly
expect “Xara to produce top quality progeny.
At this stage it is too
early to comment on her progeny, but with her breeding and with the expert
knowledge of her owner Lothal Quoll, it would be very surprising if she did
not produce excellent animals.
2007
Sieger Show – Siegerin –“Gina vom Aquamarin”
- 2145282[DF2]
Gina was sired by
“Fedor vo Gelingenstrasse”
a V dog, but not one who had
a particularly impressive show career. He
was only V. 76 at the 2004 Sieger Show.
His sire , Baru
v. Haus Yu, is a popular stud dog
who had produced some good animals,
but he was also not a remarkably good show specimen, being placed V 35 in 1998.
“Baru” however, is very well bred, being a son of the important V.A.
dog “Natz. V. Steigerhof”out of an excellent bitch,
sired by the Sieger “Kimon”.
Baru’s Dam, Nina v. Tronje” was a daughter of the excellent
producing bitch “Xena v. Wildsteigerland”. This may be one of the reasons for his popularity as a sire.
It is interesting to note
that “Gina’s” Dam, “Hanka vom Turkepkopf” was also not a particularly
good show specimen. In 2002 she was SG 40 in
the Jugendklasse at the Sieger
Show. She was sired by the
important V.A.dog and excellent producer, “Esko v. Danischen Hof”, out of a
“Baru v.Haus Yu” daughter. So
here we have line-breeding on “Baru”.
Whether “Gina” will
produce well remains to be seen. She
is still very young, having been whelped on the 31st.
1972 Siegerin “Lore v.
1973 Siegerin “Wilma von Richterbach” – 893419
“Wilma’s”
breeding was the very best in Germany at the time.
1974 Siegerin
“Mascha. Stuhri Gau” 12945
“Mascha” was
sired by the “Rolf” son ‘Brando v. Tappenort”, a
top V.A. dog, and her Dam was also a top show specimen, the V.A. bitch
“Werra zu den Sieben Faulen”. “Werra”
was sired by a well-bred dog “Etu
vom Zierenberg”, a son of an exccptionally good producer of show winning
animals “Arry von der
Gassenquelle”. “Etu”,
however, was not a particularly good show specimen, placed Sg 59 at the 1951
Sieger Show.
Unfortunately
“Mascha” is also a bitch that
is never produced any animals of note.
1975 “Siegerin”
1976 “Siegerin”
1977 “Siegerin”
More often
or not the value of a top quality,
well-bred bitch lies in the ability of her descendants to demonstrate the
importance of their
genetic heritage by
producing excellent specimens.
1978 “Siegerin”
“Rike v. Colonia Agrippina” 979540
The sire of “Rike”,
“Unfried v. Colonia Agrippina” was
a dog that had not make his mark in the Show ring.
He was however, the son of an
important V.A. dog, “Atlas v.
Dinas Eck”
“Rike’s” Dam,
“Forma v. Colonia Agrippina”, on the other hand, was an excellent show
specimen, who was very highly placed at the Sieger Shows in 1959,1960 and 1961.
Her Sire was the excellent producer, and excellent show specimen “Alf
v. Walddirf-Emst”, a dog that I had the
privilege of seeing at the home of his proud owner, Walter Lueg.
“Alf’s”
pedigree was exemplary as he was a “Rolf” son out of an “Axel v.d.
Deininghauserheide daughter.
This was a
combination of
breeding responsible for a great number of excellent animals.
In spite of her
excellent pedigree “Rike” does not appear to have produced any animals of
note, whose names appear in the pedigrees of top show specimens.
1979 “Siegerin”
“Maja v. Stolper Land” (991118)
“Maja” was
sired by the important “Alf v. Walddorf-Ems” son, “Marko von Boxhochburg”
who was very highly placed at the 1959, 1960 and 1961 Sieger Shows.
“Maja’s” Dam was the excellent
“V” . bitch and “Rolf”
daughter “Werra v. Osnabrueckerland”.
Mated to the S.G.
rated dog “Lex v. Colonia Agrippina”she produced the bitch “Velia”.
“Velia” does not appear to have any sons or
daughters that have had an important influence on the breed.
1964
“Siegerin” “Blanka
v. Kisskamp” (1004734)
The Sire of
“Blanka” was the 1962 Sieger “Mutz aus der Kuckstrasse”, the 1958 Sieger
Condor v. Hohenstamm” son. The
Dam of “Blanka” was a relatively unknown bitch, “Iris v. Walienhof”.
Although
“Blanka” did not produce any top winners herself, mated to the very well-bred “Quai v.d. Schinklergrenze” and
subsequently the top V dog “Sam
v.d. Schinklergrenze”, she did
produce the important “X” and “Z”
litter “Kattenstroth that included many excellent animals whose names
frequently appear in the pedigrees of top
winners
1965 “Siegerin”
“Landa v.d. Wienerau”
(1029754)
Landa was sired by
the very important V.A. winner “Jalk v. Fohlenbrunnen”, V.A.
in 1961,62 and Reserve Sieger in 1963, an exceptionally fine specimen,
and dominant Sire. He was the son of another important dog “Vello zu den
Sieben Faulen”, who was also an excellent producer, but criticized for being
oversized.
Landa’s Dam
“Dixie v.d. Wienerau” was not a particularly good show specimen. She was
only a very low placed SG 56 at the Sieger Show in 1961.
Neverthless her breeding was excellent.
She was sired by the V.A. dog “Arno v. Haus Schwingel” our of a bitch
sired by the 1955 Sieger v. Nordfelsen. She also proved to be an exceptionally
good brood bitch and produced some excellent
progeny in addition to Landa.
Obviously luck is
always an important element in
breeding success, but the chance of having luck on your side will be improved
with astute breeding practices.
Anschy was sired by
the important Reserve Sieger “Karly v. Arminius”, who we have discussed
before. He is the son of the Sieger
“Kimon”, out of the excellent producing bitch “Marit v.d. Wildsteigerland”.
Anschy’s dam was
Panja v. Wildsteigerland, who did quite well as a young animal in the junior
classes.
Panja comes from a
continuous line of Wildsteigerland bitches, very well bred, but none of which
were star performers in show classes.
Anschy did produce
some good bitches. When mated to
Hoss v. Larchenhain she did produce “Gala v. Magisstrale”, a very good V
bitch. When mated to the
double Sieger Yasko v. Farbelspiel” she produced
“Indira v. Urbecke” and when mated to the 2003 Sieger she produced “Kelly
v. Magistrale”
Her influence will
continue through her bitch progeny.
Zaskia was another
one of the excellent bitches produced by “Karly v. Arminius”.
Her Dam was “Leika von Haus Bork”, a good V bitch and
very well bred, but not a bitch that achieved top honours.
Leika was sired by the 1993 Sieger “Jeck v. Noricum” out of a V.A.
bitch “Orna von der Steinhagerquelle”, a “Uran” daughter.
“Zaskia” did
not prove to be a bitch that
reproduced her own excellence, which is somewhat surprising considering her
excellent breeding.
2000
Siegerin “Chipsi v.d. Herdersfarm”
(1961757)
“Chipsi” was
sired by the important V.A. dog “Natz v. Steigerhof”- V.A. 4 in 1997 – a
son of Nutz vom. Monchberg” who
was a Mark v. Haus Beck son. The
dam of “Natz v. Steigerhof” was
the Fanto v. Hirschel daughter, Paola v.d. Murrenhutte.
“Chipsi’s”
Dam was the V.A. bitch “Xena v. Wildsteigerland” a remarkably good
bitch who was also was a very good
brood bitch with a number of
excellent progeny. Not only were
these animals good in themselves they also produced well.
“Chipsi”
was sold to Norway where she produced some good progeny that included a
bitch – Ginny av Thorarinn that
was V.A 2 . at the American Sieger Show in
2001
2001 Siegerin “|Millo
v. Frutteto” 2019195
Milla was sired by
the Dutch Bred dog “Xano Shanto’s” a Flick v. Arlett son, who was V.A.in
1997. Flick was a Yago v.
Wildsteigerland son.
Milla’s Dam was
the Italian bred “Dolli di Casa Piellier”, a good V bitch, but not a top
show winner.
Milla produced some
excellent stock for her Italian owner and breeder of the “Frutteto”
Kennels,Ambrogio Verpelli, including the bitch “Tiano Frutteto” who was
Siegerin at the 2004 American Sieger Show.
2002 Siegerin
Karma von Ochsentor (2031747)
Karma was one of
the few Siegerins who was not only an outstanding show specimen, but also a
remarkably good producer.
Karma was sired by
the Italian bred dog Wasko diUlmental, an
excellent specimen who was very well placed in the Youth class at the 1998 Sieger Show, where he was
placed third in a very strong class, judged by Ernst. Ruckert.
“Wasko” was sired by the
important Italian bed Sire “Max della Loggia dei Mercanti”, the 1996
Sieger Visum v. Arminius son.
“Max” was V.A 8 IN 1996.
Wasko’s Dam was
Elly v.d. Feurball, a “Fanto v. Hirschel” daughter.
The
name of “Fanto” is worthwhile mentioning in the context of good producing
bitches. Even though the double
Sieger “Fanto v. Hirschel” – Sieger in 1990 and 1991 – is regarded as a
disappointing Sire in that he produced very few sons of quality, it is quite
amazing how often his name appears in the pedigrees of top quality bitches.
Karma’s Dam was
“Feli v. Ochsentor”, was sired by “Esko v. Wienerau”- a Zamb son out of
the V.A. bitch
“Xandra
v. Winerau”, who was VA. times, in 1994, 1995 and 1996.
Esko’s breeding
is very interesting. The mating to
“Xandra” was so successful that it was repeated a number of times, and every
time with excellent results. In
addition to “Esko” the mating producing the excellent producer “Matty v.d.
Wienerau”, the V.A. bitch “Nathalie v. Wienerau” and of course the
remarkable “V” litter that produced the
double Siegerin “Vanta”.
Examining
“Esko’s” progeny it is somewhat surprising that he was not as successful a
Sire as one would have expected from a dog
of such an exceptional quality with
such a excellent pedigree. I can
recall discussing this many years ago with
the late, extremely knowledgeable Ruth
Stuttchen, of the famed Murrenhutte kennels, from whom I one purchased an Esko
son – out of a “Fanto”
daughter “Haidy v. Murrenhutte”. According
to Frau Suttchen a possible reason
was the fact that Esko was owned by a French breeder and
was not as accessible to German breeders as they would have wished.
In
any event, it is highly likely that
Esko’s influence – as the Sire of “Feli v. Ochsentor” was considerable.
Feli’s Dam,
“Uska v.d. Ochsentor” was also a well-bred bitch, although she never
distinguished herself as a top show
specimen. She was sired by the V.A.
“Quando v. Arminius” son, “Cimbo
v. d. Burg Reichenstein”,
Feli has proved an
excellent producer in her own right and in her litters she has produced some
fine animals in addition to “Karma”. Mated
to the 2003 Sieger “Bax v.d. Luisenstrasse” she produced the V.A. bitch
“Zora v.
Ochsentor”, who was V.A.11 in
2005.
2003
Sieger Show – 5/09/2003 – Ulm – Germany.
V.A.
1 – Siegerin – “Korah vom Bierstadter Hof (2026376)
“Korah” was sired by
“Wilson aus Agrigento”, a dog that did well at shows as a young dog before
being exported to the U.S.A. At the
2006 American Sieger Show he was V.A. 6.
Wilson was sired by the Hungarian
bred “Stobuko vom Yohannes Berg”.
“Wilson’s” Dam was
“Ola aus Agrigento”, a very good show bitch who was V11 at the 1995 Sieger
Show.
The Dam of
“Korah” was “Salome vom Bierstadter Hof”, sired by the important
Italian bred Sire, “Max della Loggia dei Mercanti – a Sieger Visum
Aminius son, who was V.A. at the 1996 Sieger Show.
The Dam of “Salome”
was “Brasilia vom Bierstadter Hof”. Both
these bitches were not particularly good show specimens.
The only progeny of note
produced by “Korah” was “Ulan vom Bierstadter Hof” who was exported to
the U.S.A where he did well at the 2006 Show, being placed V.A. 6.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2004
Sieger Show –27th August 2004
V.A. 1 – Siegerin – Kamilla vom Romerland
(2091343)
“Kamilla” was sired
by “Wallace aus Agrigento” a very good producing son of the V.A. dog “Scott Deodatus”.
Her Dam was “Isabella vom Romerland” , a daughter of the
1995 Sieger :Lasso von Neun Berg”.
Mated to the V.A. dog ,
reserve Sieger in 2006 and very important Sire, “Quantum v. Arminius”, she
produced an excellent dog “Scott v. Agrigento”.
2005
Sieger Show – 2nd. September 2005 Ulm
Siegerin V.A. 1 “Tabata du Val Anzin” (LOF 544290)
Tabata was sired by the
2000 Sieger Ursus v. Batu” who has had an enormous influence on the
development of the breed in recent years.
Although we are discussing bitches at the moment, perhaps it is worthwhile to digress
for the moment and examine the pedigree of Ursus.
This may give us a clue as to the reason for his remarkable prepotency.
The pedigree of Ursus
represents a combination of two of the most important sires of the modern era
– the 1992 Sieger Zamb v. Winerau and the 1993 Sieger Jeck v. Noricum, both
sons of Odin v. Tannenmeise.
Ursus was sired by
“Hobby v. Gletschertopf”, a very
good son of Jeck.
The Dam of Ursus was “Verena
v. Batu|, a Zamb daughter. Although
“Verena” was not a particularly good show specimen, she was bred from a long
line of “Batu” bitches going back four
generations of Batu bred bitches.
To return to our
discussion about “Tabata”, she was bred by the well-known
French breeder Eric Trentenaere. Her
Dam was the French Bred bitch from
the same du valAnzin kennels, “Ronda du
Val Anzin”, who was Siegerin at the French Sieger Show in 2003.
“Ronda” was also winner of the Youth class at the German Sieger Show
in 2001.
Ronda’s breeding is
interesting because her background is primarily French breeding without any
indication of German bred dogs for four generations. One has to go back four generations in her pedigree to find
evidence of the
German dogs Zamb and
Zamb’s son Tony v.d. Wienerau.
“Tabata” appears to
have shown her worth as an excellent producer in addition to being a superb show
specimen. Although she is still
relatively young – having been whelped on the 17th February 20002,
she has already produced an excellent bitch “Vana du Va Anzin”, who was
French Siegerin in 2006 and V.A. 3 at the Sieger Show in Peking.
2006
Sieger Show – Siegerin - “Xara
vom Agilolfinger” 2116349
Xara was sired by the
double Sieger Laurus v. Batu- 2004 and again in 2005. Larus himself
was the son of the double Sieger “Yasko v. Farbenspiel”, who we have already
discussed. “Yasko”, the Ursus son was Sieger in 2001 and 2002.
Xara’s Dam, “Karma v.
Ochsentor” we discussed at length.
With such an impressive
pedigree one would certainly
expect “Xara to produce top quality progeny.
At this stage it is too
early to comment on her progeny, but with her breeding and with the expert
knowledge of her owner Lothal Quoll, it would be very surprising if she did
not produce excellent animals.
2007
Sieger Show – Siegerin –“Gina vom Aquamarin”
- 2145282[DF3]
Gina was sired by
“Fedor vo Gelingenstrasse”
a V dog, but not one who had
a particularly impressive show career. He
was only V. 76 at the 2004 Sieger Show.
His sire , Baru
v. Haus Yu, is a popular stud dog
who had produced some good animals,
but he was also not a remarkably good show specimen, being placed V 35 in 1998.
“Baru” however, is very well bred, being a son of the important V.A.
dog “Natz. V. Steigerhof”out of an excellent bitch,
sired by the Sieger “Kimon”.
Baru’s Dam, Nina v. Tronje” was a daughter of the excellent
producing bitch “Xena v. Wildsteigerland”. This may be one of the reasons for his popularity as a sire.
It is interesting to note
that “Gina’s” Dam, “Hanka vom Turkepkopf” was also not a particularly
good show specimen. In 2002 she was SG 40 in
the Jugendklasse at the Sieger
Show. She was sired by the
important V.A.dog and excellent producer, “Esko v. Danischen Hof”, out of a
“Baru v.Haus Yu” daughter. So
here we have line-breeding on “Baru”.
Whether “Gina” will
produce well remains to be seen. She
is still very young, having been whelped on the 31st. May 2004.
Her pedigree is certainly not as impressive as many of the other
Siegerins we have discussed, but as mentioned on numerous occasions the question
of luck in genetics is a factor that one cannot never dismiss completely.
